Racing Stories

Ummm.. Okay okay, I know I am going to get flamed for writing this page, with 70% of emails from those 'always obey your speed limit' freaks and the rest of 30% of emails from BMW drivers who can care less about straight line racing because they think Bimmers are too good for Mustangs, Cameros and other domestic muscle cars. Oh well, just to clarify, for those who simply don't like people who break speed limit laws, most of these incidents happened when I was just a lad or when there was no traffic on the road. Like most of you out there, I did some stupid things when I was young. Besides, I am only a lead foot on wide open streets with higher speed limits. At least I am better than those who are doing 70MPH in 25MPH zones. Now that's really immature! And for those who think I was dumb enough to race in straight lines in a Bimmer, I know that! I've been studying BMWs and their performance characteristics for many years, and there's no need for you gear heads to teach me such simple knowledge. Again, I am not a reckless driver and I always slowed down when I proved my point to the other driver. Of course, as I get older and wiser, my driving habits have become even more mature and cautious. Nowadays, I am still somewhat of a speed freak from time to time. Fortunately, my experiences gained from years of driving and some occasional AutoX events have kept me out of troubles. Anyway... on with these fun stories.. =P

Red Honda Prelude (1997+) v. My BMW 325isA ----> Prelude won (March, 98')
When I saw this Prelude at the stop light, it immediately caught my attention because it was 1997, and the new Prelude just came out! I was busy checking out the car as the Prelude's driver (a dorky Asian guy in glasses) looked at me as if he was God. My friend noticed his expression and warned me what was about to happen. "Oh well.. it's just a Prelude..." I said. When the light turned green, this dude took off like an arrow and I also gunned it. Due to my friend's weight (at 230lb, he's a big guy) and my bias against 4 bangers (hehehe..sorry.. ), I was caught off guard. I had to down shift to third and do a kick down to keep up with the Prelude. The bimmer ran beside the Prelude for 50 ft. or so and then I was blocked a by car in front of me. The Prelude zoomed past me from the right lane and never looked back. Stupid guy, I bet I would've taken him had I launched properly and without my friend in the passenger seat. 1997 Honda Prelude: 0-60mph in 7.0-7.4 sec.

Gray Nissan Sentra SE-R (1993 or 1994) v. My BMW 325isA ----> I won (98')
Holy this was a good race! I was traveling on Nogales Ave. when this gray Sentra SE-R pulled next to me. It was revving its engine and edging forward as we were waiting for the light to turn green. I already knew what this guy was up to. I could also tell that he had a stick instead of an auto. As soon as the lights turned green, I meshed the throttle and downshifted to third, the bimmer took off half a car length quicker than the Nissan did and the rest was history. The other guy never had the chance to overtake me. 40, 50, 60, 75mph came by in just a few ticks of seconds and pretty soon we had to stop for the traffic. Overall, the SE-R performed quite well. Its front end stayed within my passenger's door and I wasn't able to gain on him at the speed we were going. But the victory did make me smile. :) 1993 Nissan Sentra SE-R: 0-60mph in 7.4-7.6 sec.

White BMW M3 (1995) v. My BMW 325isA ----> I won (Summer, 97')
This is another incredible story. I was going on Azusa Ave. on the overpass this one sunny summer and I saw this white shiny M3 catching up fast behind in my rear view mirror. Its driver was an Asian kid with two or three friends in the back seat. He caught up with me immediately since I wasn't over speeding and made a quick lane change to the right lane. As he was about to overtake me... I said to myself, "oh well, let's have some fun!!" I stumped on the gas and pulled the lever to third. The 325 quickly accelerated as its RPM needle swung upward. We soon approached the crest of the overpass, but there was a curve going to the left side of the overpass. I guess I had some advantage over him since I was in the inner lane and my car didn't have any passenger at that moment. The M3 just couldn't pass me even when we got up to 85mph or so. At this moment there was this old guy driving in an Escort in front of the M3, so the other driver made a sharp turn around the Ford and cut back in front of it again to stay with me. Poor old guy, he must have been scared by that crazy move....Again, I guess I still won the race... not because I had a better car..perhaps because I was either more crazy or stupid or insane than the other guy was....We soon parted at the next light... I noticed that M3 had a set of gorgeous BBS 18' RC rims on it. 1995 BMW M3: 0-60MPH in 5.4-5.7 sec.

Gray beat up modified Chevrolet Camaro (1960s) v. My BMW 325isA ----> I lost, by a lot (Summer, 97')
Okay okay.. I've heard stories about muscle cars so I know how fast they are, but I just didn't expect to get beaten so badly by one..especially a crappie looking one. This is another incident happened on Azusa. I was traveling (north bound, I think) and the road was going uphill. I pulled next to this crappie looking Camaro with big fat tires at the red light. I told myself, "there's no way that I am gonna let this crappie car embarrass me...." So I shut off the A/C, dropped the gear to third, and tapped my throttle. As soon as the light turned green, I took off. I had a quick launch so by the time I went past the other end of the block, the Camaro was still smoking its tires... "hahahahahhahah..piece of junk..." as I said to myself when the I was still accelerating hard thru 45MPH. Just a couple more seconds later, this big beast just blew by me as if I wasn't moving at all!!! I mean.. he just went pass by me and kept on pulling until he almost disappeared in front of me! I guess my car really wasn't as fast as I thought, especially when going uphill. The bimmer just didn't have enough torque to keep up with the big American V8. The Camaro later stopped to make a left turn, I tapped my horn as I drove by as a showing of respect. 1960s modified Chevrolet Camaro: 0-60MPH in 5-6 sec.

Gray beat up Plymouth (1970s) v. My BMW 325isA ----> Plymouth won (Summer, 99')
This is another similar incident happened on Amar Rd. I was waiting for the light to turn green when this white dude pulled up next to me in a beat up Plymouth with his girl friend. He started to rev his engine (which sounded kinda loud, even with my air conditioner and stereo blasting, I could hear the exhaust notes) and edged his car slowly ahead of me. I knew what he was up to so I prepared for the run. After that Camaro incident, I was more cautious this time. I shut off the A/C again, shifted to third and lined up with his car. As soon as the light turned green, we both went at it. The Plymouth's V8 still edged the bimmer in drag racing by a small margin. My front bumper was at his passenger door all the way until around 75MPH when I was blocked by the traffic. Obviously his girl friend looked happy and satisfied as she waved at me for their victory. I flickered my head lights to acknowledge. Fine, I lost. But I wasn't driving a M3 either :). 1970s Plymouth: 0-60MPH unknown

Black Nissan Maxima SE v. My BMW 325isA ----> I won (Summer, 97')
Wow this race actually came pretty close... I was traveling on Amar to go to school one day when this black Nissan Maxima (1996 model) with tinted windows pulled up next to me at a red light. I didn't know if the guy wanted a piece of me or not. But I took off quickly as the light turned green anyway. The Maxima was apparently ready for it because its driver gunned it as well. That car had an incredible engine, I could see his front end going up as he started to accelerate hard. We were going uphill at the time so I was able to see his car clearly as he kept up with me all the way up to 55MPH or so. During the race, his front end was just at my right front fender so I guess I didn't beat him a lot. But either way I was still happy.. hehehehhe.. 1996 Nissan Maxima SE: 0-60MPH 7.1 sec.

Yellow (or blue?) Honda CRX v. My BMW 325isA ----> I lost, by some weird reason (Summer, 97')
Hmmm.. I really don't think I should lose in this encounter. The day was really weird.. my car felt very slow for some reason and the engine just wouldn't pick up. It might have something to do with the weather, since it was super hot that day. With my dad as a passenger, I didn't turn off the A/C as I usually would. Then I saw this kid in a CRX try to get my attention by revving the engine. As the light turned green, I accelerated with gear left in 4th and gosh.....the CRX just walked away as if I wasn't moving at all.... sobsob..:*( I also heard some whines as he ran past me, I guess he must have turbocharged his car. Given a better day when my car runs well, I am sure I would've had a shot against that little CRX. 1989 Honda CRX: 0-60MPH 8.2 sec. (they can be easily modified to be super fast cars as well.)

White Toyota Rav-4 v. My BMW 325isA ---> I won (June, 98')
I was coming back from Crystal Lake with my girl friend when this high school kid in a two door Rav-4 pulled next to me... he was revving his engine and unlucky him.. I happened to have my windows rolled down and his action kinda irritated me... So I decided to put him to shame in a drag race. As the light turned green, I took off and he immediately followed... To my surprise.. that little Rav-4 could actually run fast! Much much faster than the automtic version I've seen before. I think he had a stick because the Rav-4 jerked as he shifted....Not to be beaten, I floored the bimmer and it kept him from passing me.. As we hit 80MPH it was clear that the Rav-4 had no chance at all..... On one hand, I was happy that I won.. On the other... my girl friend got really mad at me for doing this.. ooops... 1996 Toyota Rav-4 stick: 0-60MPH 8.0-9.0 sec.

White Cadillac DeVille v. My BMW 325isA ----> I lost again.. sigh (June, 98')
My dad has always been fast with his Caddy. Due to my knowledge no one has beaten him yet in a stop light race. I have no idea why his car's so fast since its stats didn't look too impressive at all. Anyway... I had the chance to line up against him this one time at the red light and I asked for his permission to race. I had my uncle and aunt with me in my car this time. And his car was even more loaded with 4 passengers. As the lights turned green, I stumped on the gas and to my surprise, the Caddy made a roaring sound and overtook me with no problem!! I couldn't even catch up before we hit 45MPH... Even then..I suspect it was because my dad let off the gas just to let me catch up..What the heck????? I wonder how he's made that car so fast.....I guess driving skills matter a lot when it comes to racing.. 1990 Cadillac Sedan DeVille: 0-60MPH 8.8 sec.

Red Corvette ZR-1 v. My BMW 325isA ----> Ha ha ha.... I had no chance at all (Summer, 97')
Courtesy of my friend Cinny... I had a chance to play with this exotic Corvette on the freeway once.... I remember she asked me to go ahead and start running before she counts to 10 and try to catch up.. I was like..."huh?.. you silly girl.. you ain't gonna catch me.. heheheh"... She just smiled and told me to go ahead... I jumped in my car immediately and gunned it (there was no car on the freeway that day, for some strange reason)... as I counted 10 sec. myself.. I was going about 80 or 90MPH... the all of the sudden.. it must have been no longer than an additional 10 or 15 sec, I saw her coming right at me!!! Holy smoke!! I was already going at around 110MPH and she just passed me like that Camaro did (actually.. I think she's much faster.. ) and within secs. I lost her in sight... I was only able to spot her again when she braked and her taillights caught my attention. Gosh...please don't be this mean to me again Cinny..... 1994 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1: 0-60MPH 4.7 sec.

Purple Accord SE v. My BMW 325isA ----> I won, of course (Summer, 99')
This happened on Azusa, I believe. As I was waiting for the light to turn green, this pretty Asian girl pulled up next to me and wanted to play... Hmmm.. I didn't want to embarrass her too much... As she began to take off, I only let myself barely stay in front of her so she wouldn't look too bad... But at the same time.. maybe she didn't want to race at all.. hehhehehe.. 1997 Honda Accord SE: 0-60MPH 9.0 sec.

Black M3 v. My friend's E320 ----> M3 won (February 98')
Okay.. this wasn't really a stop light race but it was nevertheless a very good one!!! Sometimes in Feb. 1998, I had an opportunity to drive my friend Carl's 1995 Merc. E320 from Sacramento to Berkeley so I took the chance! As I was listening to Blumchen's "Gib me mir zeit" on MD in repeat mode... this black M3 pulled next to me.. it was night time and we were going about 75MPH or so.. he stayed with me for a while in the right lane and I got the notion that he wanted to play.... Before I could react.. he stepped on the gas and the M3 started to surge forward.... I pressed on the Merc's pedal and decided to follow.. 80, 90, 100, 110MPH passed by in just a few sec...to my surprise this Merc. could actually hang with the M3!!! All the time I followed close behind him and he wasn't able to shake me off at all! The Mercedes felt very stable in high speed and its engine never showed any signs of strain.... as we hit 135MPH the M3 finally slowed down.. I guess he's hit his speed limitor... so I passed him...Wow...good driving experience... 1995 Mercedes E320: 0-60MPH 6.9 sec.

Black 500 SL v. MR-2 Turbo ----> SL won (Summer, 96')
I was driving my friend Rita's shiny SL with her in the passenger seat when this kid in a Toyota MR-2 pulled next to us... I knew he wanted something since he kept looking at us (or Rita.. since she looks cute.. heheheh) and revving the engine... I just couldn't resist what this SL could do so I took the bate.. before she could even object... I stumped on the gas when the light turned green.. The kid must had a quick reaction time because he was on par with the SL all the way until around 50MPH or so.. I am not sure if he later mis shifted or what.. but beyond 50MPH the SL just walked away from the MR-2 and he wasn't able to catch up since then.... Was I happy?? Of course..I just beat a fast sports car in a Mercedes! Was Rita mad??..you betcha she was.... sorry... I promise I won't do this to you again Rita.. 1992 Mercedes 500 SL: 0-60MPH 6.2 sec. 1994 Toyota MR-2 Turbo: 0-60MPH 6.2 sec.

White Cadillac v. White Fiero ----> Caddy won (95')
This time I wasn't the driver in this race..my dad was.... When he took me home from school this afternoon.. there was this guy following us in a Pontiac Fiero with his girl friend in the passenger seat... he looked at us and smirked as he prepared to shift for the light... My dad saw what he did and I guess he wanted to teach him a lesson.. As soon as the lights turned green.. the Caddy jumped forward and to that guy's surprise.. he couldn't keep up with the Caddy! Granted.. he had a stick so he was able to keep his front end within the Caddy's right rear passenger door.. but from 0 all the way up to 75MPH... he never had a chance to catch up.... So long Fiero... 1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula: 0-60MPH 8.2 sec.

Gray Oldsmobile/Pontiac v. Maroon Pulsar ----> Pulsar won (December 00')
I raced with this GM little boxy car with my daily driver, 1989 Nissan Pulsar. At that time I had my friend in the passenger seat.. there was this dude in the Oldsmobile who wanted to overtake me by going on the right side, which wasn't supposed to be a legal lane to be driven on.... I knew what he wanted and since he never bothered to give me any courtesy of getting the right of way..As he attempted to pass me I stumped on the Pulsar's gas pedal and it just outran the Oldsmobile as the needle went past 50MPH.... "were you racing that guy?..." my friend asked.... "hmm.. oh well.. he was doing some illegal maneuver so I didn't want to let him overtake me......" 1989 Nissan Pulsar: 0-60MPH 10.3 sec. 1980s Oldsmobile/Pontiac: 0-60MPH 11.4 sec.

Red Supra v. My Pulsar ----> Duh!.... I lost... (November 00')
Okay... this happened at one night when I was heading to my friend's place in Sacramento... As I was traveling on Florin there was this annoying car with huge head light that kept tailing me.. upon inspection it was a 1993+ Toyota Supra with some big rims... As we approached the lights he finally switched to the left lane... I decided to find out how my Pulsar would do against this Supra so I inched forward as we waited for the light to turn green.. As I tried to take off when it's time to go.. this Supra just surged forward and never let me have a chance..worst of all.. this Civic that was behind the Supra also overtook me as I hit 45MPH or so.... sigh.. the little poor Pulsar just didn't have a chance against both the Civic and the Supra.... I slowed down and pulled into my friend's apt. as I watched them continue to race.. to my amusement.. a patrol car popped out of nowhere and went straight after them.. hahahahhahahah... I bet their parents are gonna be really mad at them when they go home that night..... 1993 Toyota Supra Turbo: 0-60MPH 5.1 sec. 1997 Honda Civic: 0-60MPH 9.3sec. (depending on the model.)

Black Honda Accord v. White Caddy ----> Caddy won...(Summer, 95')
This actually happened when I was in high school.. this sunny day my dad was driving my family on the freeway when suddenly.. a Hispanic guy in a Honda Accord pulled right next to us and gave us a finger... I guess he thought 75MPH (which was how fast we were going) wasn't fast enough.. so he passed us and cut in front of my dad with a dangerous maneuver.. "what the heck??.. " my dad said in disgust... "get him Dad.. he gave us a finger!!!".. as soon as my brother said that... my dad stumped on the gas and the Caddy immediately caught up with the Accord.. by that time we're virtually tail-gating that guy... at 95MPH or so.. we came too close and he had to switch to the right lane to let us over take him.. my brother gave him a finger as we passed by... To our surprise.. this moron actually followed us and forced the Caddy to the side ramp on the 605/10 freeway intersection..he rolled down the window and started swearing as we stopped... My brother and I got out of the car and took off our shirts...he looked at us.. got scared.. and drove away.. "Chicken....."...The only person who thought we did the wrong thing was my mom, of course... 1993 Honda Accord: 0-60MPH 9.7 sec.

Red Ecplise GS-T v. My Pulsar ----> Ecplise won (November 00')
When my friend was driving alone with me in his Ecplise on Florin Rd... I pulled next to him at a light and told myself.."oh well.. why not???" I wasn't in a good mood that night so I decided to give his Ecplise a good run... When the light turned green, I stumped on the gas and the Pulsar quickly took off as usual.... about a few sec. later.. the Ecplise caught up and passed me... after the drive..my friend asked me.. "pretty quick car eh??.. You let off the gas, didn't you???".... I just said yes... In fact.. I did try to keep on going but I guess the Pulsar was just no match for the Turbo charged Ecplise. 1995 Mitsubishi Ecplise GS-T: 0-60MPH 6.4 sec.

White Expedition v. My Pulsar ----> Expedition won (November 00')
I had the chance to play with this guy in a gigantic Ford Expedition SUV when I drove from Berkeley back to Sacramento sometimes last year...It was night time so the traffic on the freeway was light.. this guy in the Ford decided to go fast for some reason.. so I followed him as he went faster and faster.. I guess he knew what I wanted so he never slowed down.. as we approached 100MPH.. I overtook him for a brief while.. I guess he was hesitant whether he should go faster or not.. anyway.. at around 110MPH.. he caught up with me again and slowly pulled away.. I kept on accelerating until the Pulsar ran out of breath at around 117MPH.... My Pulsar did a good job given the fact that it's only a 4 banger and it's eleven year old...The Expedition.. on the other hand.. really amazed me with its high speed capability... given the fact that it's currently the largest SUV in the world.... 1999 Ford Expedition: 0-60MPH 10.5 sec.

Silver Lexus GS 400 v. My BMW 325isA ----> Got killed (Summer, 98')
Okay, this time it wasn't really my fault that I lost the race. The GS 400 was just way too fast. Actually we weren't even racing. I was traveling on Azusa when I saw this big Lexus cutting lanes all over the place...I said to myself, "this guy's pretty brave in a shiny new Lexus..." Before I finished my sentence, the Lexus was right next to my car! "No way I am gonna let you just walk away like this!" I shifted to third and did a kick down. The bimmer responded to my command but was still unable to catch the GS 400 as it passed me. Middle age crisis I guess... who says only little boys like to go fast in their sports cars.. ? :) 1998 Lexus GS 400: 0-60MPH 5.9 sec.

Dark blue BMW 7 Series v. Mercedes E320 ----> BMW won (February 98')
This was a rainy day when I drove my friend's Benz with my girl friend on Riverside Blvd. There were many lanes on the road and I was driving on the left most lane. Suddenly, I saw some shiny Xenon lights in my rear view mirror and I immediately checked out the car as it stopped on the right lane. It was a shiny dark blue late model BMW 7 Series, driven by a middle aged white guy. I couldn't tell if it was a V12 750iL or a V8 740iL because it was too dark. Hmm.. I wondered if this guy wanted to go at it or not. As I said this to myself, the light turned green and the BMW just rushed across the intersection. I did try to keep up with the Mercedes but I didn't apply full throttle since it was raining and dark. But the big 7 Series surely was fast! I am sure if I wouldn't have a chance against this car even if I did a full throttle run against this guy. 1997 BMW 740iL: 0-60MPH 6.4-7.7 sec.

Avus Blue BMW M3 v. Mitsubishi Montero SR ----> M3 won (March 98')
This wasn't really a race either because I knew what would happen already. I was driving my girl friend's Montero when I saw this white guy pulled up in a shiny M3 with windows/sunroof open. "Nice car!" I said to myself. I wonder if he'll go if I give him some hints. So as the lights turned green I tapped the throttle and did a quick start. I guess he noticed what I was doing and quickly accelerated away. Again, it wasn't really a drag race but I remember this incident because from the Montero's tall driver's seat, I was able to see the M3 in its entirety. Man was it a beautiful car or what? :) 1996 Mitsubishi Montero SR: 0-60MPH 11.0 sec.

Green Acura Intera v. BMW M3 automatic ----> M3 won (May 97')
This wasn't a real race as well because I wasn't sure if the other guy was trying to go fast or not. Anyway, it was 1997; the new M3 sedan just came out. I was lucky to get a ride in it this one day around town in San Francisco. Sometimes that night when we stopped for the red light, there was this green, modified Integra next to us. I asked the M3 driver, "how about showing me how fast this thing can go?" He looked at me, and clicked on the sports mode in its automatic transmission, and gunned it as the light turned green. The Integra was left far behind. I was impressed. Many people claimed that M3 automatics are slow but it certainly didn't feel that way to me. By the way there were 4 of us in the M3 that night! 1997 BMW M3 sedan automatic: 0-60MPH 6.6 sec.

White Ford Thunderbird v. Caddy ----> Caddy won (95')
This was a funny incident. This one time when I dad was driving me in his car, there was this guy in a Ford Thunderbird to our left. He kept on taunting us as he increased his speed when he drove next to us. The light finally turned red. I asked my dad, "how about letting this guy know how fast your car is?" My dad nodded and said, "sure". As green lights came, both cars took off. I have to admit that the T bird wasn't slow at all (it might be a V8 T bird, but I wasn't sure). It stayed within a car length of the Caddy in the first run. Second time at the next block, this guy tried harder. But he was still not able to pass the Caddy. Same thing happened in the third time. I guess he gave up after wards. Interesting race, though. 1991 Ford Thunderbird: 0-60MPH 8.5 sec.

Black Ford Taurus SHO v. Caddy ----> Caddy won (June 2002')
It was a weird encounter. My Dad and I were following this gold 98’ Corolla who squeezed thru us and the van in left lane from the middle (this guy drove on the center divider lines) when we were waiting for the light to turn green. We followed that car and continued on to a straight road that led to the 10th freeway. Suddenly there were two hispanic dudes in a black Taurus SHO who turned into our lane in front of us without signaling and drove very slowly. We had to slow down and honked at them for getting in our way. The Taurus driver made a bad gesture and slowed down to 20mph on a 45mph road. We also made gestures and Dad proceeded to pass him on the opposite lane from the left. This dude then sped up and the race was on. I didn’t watch the odometer because I was busy giving them fingers. The Caddy gradually overtook the Taurus as both cars accelerated to 70mph or 80mph. Then suddenly a van turned into the Ford’s lane from the Marriot Hotel's parking lot. The Taurus had no choice but to brake hard. Its tires made a loud squeal and smoke was everywhere. Dad then waited by the left turn lane to go on to the freeway. This dude later drove past us and parked ahead on the shoulder about 20 yards away. They kept gesturing and swearing at us but we just gestured back and ignored them as we went on to the freeway. We had a good laugh afterwards. 1991 Ford Taurus SHO: 0-60MPH 6.9 sec.

White Cadillac v. My BMW 325isA ----> Caddy won (June 2002')
Alright, this is it. It's time for me and my dad to settle who has a faster car. I was driving back after my suspension swap with my dad in his car on the left lane. We both hit the red light and decided to see if my car can do better this time against the Caddy. After all, I now have J.C. chip, ECIS intake and RMS exhaust on my car. These bolt-on mods. are prob. good for 15-20hps or so. I shifted into 3rd and turned off the air conditioner as I patiently waited for the light to turn green. As soon as the green light came on, I immediately stepped on the gas. Sigh... no go. I heard my engine revving but the BMW did not really move until the RPM reached 3k+. By then the Caddy had alredy gained at least two cars on me. And the Caddy did this with my brother in it! Soon, we both hit over 45mph in a 25mph zone as I heard my engine roaring for more speed. Oh well, at least this time the BMW did a bit better. I wasn't too far behind. 1990 Cadillac Sedan DeVille: 0-60MPH 8.8 sec.

White Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, Silver Subaru WRX, and Gray Chevrolet Monte Carlo v. My Nissan Pulsar ----> Pulsar got toasted (March 27, 2003')
At around 9:20pmish on this fateful day. I played some tag alone with a silver Subaru WRX on my way from Sacramento to Vacaville on the 80 Freeway. The Subaru stayed in front of me and then started to accelerate away. I floored the Pulsar and it reached around 110mph. The Subaru still managed to stay ahead of the Pulsar with ease. Arrrgh...Then at around 9:30pmish, a sports bike passed me in the left lane, followed by a white 97+ Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 that blasted past me to my right a few seconds later. I floored the Pulsar and tried to follow those racing dual until I hit around 110mph or so. They were still pulling away hard. The 3000GT hit the brake just before I could reach 110mph, though. It seemed as if they were going around 130mph+ or so. On my way back from Vacaville at around 9:36pmish, I semi raced a grayish Chevy Monte Carlo with a Colorado plate from red light and lost by half a car length. I then followed him on the freeway and hit around 110mph following him in the outer left lane. This time I didn't floor the Pulsar but it still reached that speed anyway. It's been a long time since I've gone this fast on the freeway. The Pulsar seemed to have lost some of its top speed ever since I hit 115MPH in it 2 years ago. Oh well, it could be the strong wind from that particular night, which might have slowed down the Pulsar a bit. 2001 Subaru WRX: 0-60MPH 5.6 sec. 1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4: 0-60MPH 5.4 sec. 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 0-60MPH 8.5 sec.

White Mercedes Benz C280 v. My BMW 325isA ----> I won (June 22, 2003')
This happened at around 3:03pmish on Azusa Ave and Temple Ave. A white 1994 or 1995ish MB C280 wanted to play at the red light. I treated him with a full throttle run and by 55mph or so, the MB was a car length behind the Bimmer. The funny thing was, 10 minutes later as I was driving around on Azusa, I ran into 2-3 girls in a 1997 white Toyota Camry. They wanted to talk to me about something but I couldn't hear them talking. Then second time around I rolled down my passenger window and this girl in the back seat said something about whether I know "Carl" or "Carlton" or not. Whatever. I couldn't hear them at all due to the engine noise. Eventually, the white Toyota, which was ahead of me in the next right lane, had gone on to the 60th FWY a little after Azusa and Gale. These girls must be ricer girls. LOL

Dark Gray Mercury Sable v. My BMW 325isA ----> I won (June 29, 2003')
This incident happened near the Cameron Ave/Valinda area. A guy with a cheapo late 80s Mercury Sable was matching my speed when I was going at about 45mph or so. I got the hint and patiently waited as the light turned red. As soon as the green light came up, I gunned the Bimmer and surprisingly, the Mercury kept up until we hit about 40mph. Then he fell behind... Later on Azusa Ave./Temple, a middle aged guy in a 1998-2000 black Lexus LS400 wanted to play and I took him by 40mph. I guess the old dude wasn't trying too hard or else I would've lost.

Dark Green BMW 328is v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (November 20, 2003')
What a way to start off a day! It was 7:07am, as I was turning onto G St. from 16th St. to go to work, I finally saw this 1997 dark green BMW 328is again; It was driving right in front of me. It's revenge time! A few weeks ago this 328is had beaten me in a short stop light drag race when he had a 1/2 car jump on me. This time I wasn't going to let this happen again. As we got on G St., the dude was driving pretty quickly as usual but had to stop in the middle lane for the red light. I took my chance so I lined up with him in the next right lane and switched to PWR mode on my tranny. As the light turned green at 15th St., I gunned it and the Lexus catapulted itself forward, leaving the 328is 2-3 cars behind me. The next intersection was a red light again. It was on; this guy got more serious and switched to the outermost left lane because there was a car in the middle between us. As soon as the light turned green and the light rail cleared the track, I gunned it again. The BMW tried a bit harder this time but since he didn't have a head start, I beat him again. I could see from my rear view mirror that he crossed the road to get behind me. I guess he lives in an apt. somewhere around that area.

Black Ford Mustang v. Dark Green Ford Mustang v. My Lexus SC400 ----> Result unknown (November 23, 2003')
It was one of those good ole' Sunday afternoons; I was just cruising on Rivergate Blvd. at approximately 40mph after having a few cups of warm tea at Cafe Latte. The time was 3:30pmish and the weather was gorgeous. As my Michelin Pilot Sport tires graciously hug the curvy road, what appeared to be a late model black Ecplise in my rear view mirror caught my eyes. After viewing it once more, it was actually a late model black Ford Mustang with white twin stripes and a bulging hood (it looked very similar to the Cobra version but I could not tell). It quickly approached my car from behind and made a swift lane change to the left lane. I looked at the mirror again and holy, there was not just one, but two Mustangs! The one behind it (which was still traveling on the same lane behind me) was a dark green late 80s/early 90s model V8 model. It too, quickly made a lane change to the left lane and passed me. I did accelerate to around 60MPH to keep up but I was still overtaken by both Mustangs (I guess they must have been going at around 80MPH or so). I then told myself, "This was too interesting, I might as well..." I decided to step on it and soon afterward, I was able to gain on the twin Stangs as all three cars approached triple digit speeds. All of a sudden, there was this other car ahead of me blocking my path; I had to make a fast lane change to the left side to avoid hitting the car as the road curves to the right. Eventually, the two Mustangs in front of me slowed down at a stop sign. I followed them and got behind the dark green Mustang. I switched to PWR mode on my transmission and waited. Shortly before they stopped at the stop sign, the newer Mustang had already switched to the right lane. I could see the drivers talking to each other as if they were going to race. I carefully observed their movements and as they both took off from the stop sign, I said to myself, "What the heck, I'll follow anyway". I stepped on the gas and the Lexus soon shortened the distance between me and the dark green Mustang as it spinned its rear tires trying to regain traction. From my observation, the dark green Mustang was a bit slower than its newer sibling due to bad traction and perhaps weaker engine. I followed the older Mustang from close behind and to my surprise, the Lexus actually kept up with the Stangs. As a matter of fact, I was getting so close to the dark green Mustang that I had to switch to the right lane to catch up to the faster one. Unfortunately, the quicker Mustang cut back to the left lane as he got around a ricer black Acura Integra with red badge on it. I had to make a sudden lane change before I could pass the dark green Mustang to avoid hitting the Acura as well. I then followed the two Mustangs to a red light by Rivergate and Florin Rd. and proceeded to the right turn lane. The two Mustangs were again stopped by a traffic light. As I drove by the dark green Mustang I honked twice and gave a chin up to its driver, who's a young white guy with short hair. He also gave me a chin up as well. Cool race. I wonder what would've happened had I tried to race them off the line.

Silver Chrysler PT Cruiser v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (January 15, 2004')
As I was coming back from work at around 5:00pmish on J St. (near 17th St.) in downtown Sacramento, a silver PT Cruiser pulled to the left lane (I was in the middle lane going on a one way street) next to me. Since I was minding my own business and waiting for the light to turn green, I didn't really pay attention to the other driver. Then as the light turned green this guy gunned his PT Cruiser and it just jumped ahead of everyone. Reflex dictated my action and caused me to hit the throttle as soon as I saw him leaping half a car length ahead of me. The SC4's RPM quickly built up and in less than a sec. or two, I've already overtaken him. I then saw him change into the middle lane and got behind me as I continued on J. St. I eventually had to turn right and I think I saw the passenger of that car giving me a thumb up as the PT Cruiser continued to travel onward. That was fun!

Green Honda Civic v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (January 17, 2004')
Yawn, it was 11:30pmish at night and I was tired. I was traveling on I-80 FWY heading West when I saw this ricer green 98ish Civic and a couple of red and white 96ish Acura Integras speeding on the freeway's left lane. They soon did a fly by pass on me as I was cruising on the outer right lane with my friend in the passenger seat. I guess somehow these ricers did not rub me in a right way. Therefore I punched the throttle by flooring the car at 65mph (I've never floored my Lexus until this moment) and the SC4 surged forward like a bulllet. In a few seconds, the speedo needle had already swung past the 110mph mark (actually, according to my passenger it had hit 120mph) as I passed the Civic and the Integras. These little cars then got behind me for a while. For some reason I missed my exit so I slowed down and let them overtake me again. I then followed them to the downtown 16th St. exit and played with them for a bit more on the street; I waited for the Civic to take off after the light turned green and I quickly accelerated past him by punching the gas. It was no contest. I finally met my match at around 12:00amish. As I was traveling on a downtown street near Alhambra Blvd., there was a red Camero driving on the left lane behind me. Suddenly the Camero's driver punched its gas and the v8 rumble got my attention. Unfortunately, before I could see what's going on the Camero was already driving next to me. I tried to step on the gas to keep it from getting away from me but by the time the SC4 started to accelerate, the Camero was already way ahead of me. Oh well, I guess I missed a good chance to race this guy. I would've probably gotten dusted anyway.

Maroon Jeep Wrangler v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (January 21, 2004')
It was another street show down on a typical day after work. The time was 5:04pm and traffic was bad. Just as I was cruising down the road, a maroon Jeep Wrangler got in the lane next to my right and started driving fast. It seemed like the driver was trying to overtake me and cut me off to avoid cars ahead of him. Before he could pass me, we finally had to stop at the red light. I could tell that the other guy was going to do everything he could to get ahead of me. Therefore, as soon as the light turned green, I gunned the throttle and the SC4 sling shot forward, passing the Jeep easily without sweat. The Lexus' 255/40/17 rear tires actually spun a little bit to regain its traction as I went over the light rail tracks!

Maroon Jaguar S Type v. My Lexus SC400 ----> Draw (January 23, 2004')
Lucky timing @1:57pmish! As I was turning onto 16th St. from Broadway, I saw this flashy, maroon new Jaguar S Type (it's possibly the supercharged version, I am not sure) with silverish 120 spoke 19' or 20' wire wheels pulling out of an alley. I didn't pay much attention to it because I was disgusted by the driver's choice of rims. As I continued driving onward for about 2 or 3 blocks down the road, going at a speed about 35mph, all of a sudden this Jaguar approached my tail like crazy from behind and cut to the left lane (it was a 3 lane, one way street. I was driving in the middle lane). Luckily, there was no car ahead of me so I immediately hit the gas pedal (I forgot if I floor it this time or not though) as soon as I saw the Jaguar turn to the left lane. The Lexus' engine screamed and picked up the revs. quickly. Surprisingly, with the SC4's engine revving high, the Jaguar was not able to pass me at all. The two cars stayed side by side and nose to nose until we both hit around 60mph or so. I then switched to the outer right lane to avoid a car ahead of me as we both slowed down for the red light. I noticed that the Jaguar's driver was a young Hispanic guy. Riding on the passenger side was his gf, who looked quite young. She stared at me for a moment and had that amused look in her face. The next block ahead of us was within yards away but also had a red light. I was going to race him again to the next block but decided otherwise because this dumb gold Camry turned into my lane and stopped there. Later, the Jaguar sped ahead when the light turned green. However, it made a left turn at the next block and was no where to be seen again. I wonder if my SC4 could spank that Jaguar if we were to do another run against each other...

Dark Green Acura 3.5 RL v. My Lexus SC400 ----> Draw (January 25, 2004')
As I was driving on 99 S. FWY coming back home from church at around 2:30pmish, about 1 mile away from my exit I saw this dark green Acura 3.5 RL quickly catching up to me in the rear mirror. I was driving on the middle lane. The Acura tried to accelerate past me as it moved over to the lane right next to me and I punched it as well. We both accelerated up to 80-85mph or so and he was not able to pass me despite the fact that he had an early start on me. Pretty soon there was a red beater blocking his path and he then switched to the outer most right lane and continued to accelerate. I had to slow down as well because there was a slower car ahead of me. I kept my hands steadily on the steering wheel and moved to the right lane to avoid hitting the car in front of me. I also cut off the red beater in doing so. I then quickly moved to the outer most right lane as the RL right got right ahead of me. I moved right behind him as I saw the young Caucasian driver raised both of his hands and doing the raise the roof gesture. There's also a passenger in that car as well. Pretty soon the RL switched back to the left lanes and continued on. I let him go at that point since I had arrived at my exit.

Alpine White BMW 330Ci v. My Lexus SC400 ----> Draw (January 31, 2004')
After I stopped at the left turn signal light at Power Inn and Elsie at around 11:00pmish, I saw a pair of Xenon lights approaching from behind. When it got closer I noticed that it's a late model white BMW 3 series. As soon as it pulled next to my car, I could see the two Asian guys in glasses checking out my car. The BMW's driver/passenger looked over at me and my passenger. I also stared back for a while. After the light turned green, the BMW proceeded to make a left turn, I could hear the aftermarket exhaust rumble as the BMW moved. I also made the same turn but since I was in the outer lane, I was about 1.5 car lengths behind the BMW. As soon as we both got on Elsie, I gave the Lexus some gas in an effort to pass the BMW. This is when the 330Ci started to accelerate. When I noticed that I wasn't gaining, I punched it as well. This is basically a rolling start race from 30MPH or so. With the road wide open, the Lexus' RPM climbed and surged forward. The BMW is sure fast, it gained a 1/2 length on me or so when we hit around 60-70mph or so but the Lexus regained back the distance as we approached 90MPH. We both had to slow down when we almost hit 100MPH and by that time, the BMW did not gain an inch over the 1.5 car length distance it previously had on me. That was a pretty good race! I didn't know that the SC4 is capable of such speed. As we were approaching the stop light, a red Pontiac was ahead of me so I switched to the left lane and stayed behind the BMW. I gave them two quick flashes of my high beam. As soon as the light turned green the BMW gunned forward. I punched the throttle and followed him from behind but could not keep up. I guess it's either because I hit the throttle too late or that the Lexus does not have a quick off the line performance. The funny thing is, I got on 99N FWY later and after I pulled out of Fruitridge West Exit and was approaching Freeport, I saw the same white BMW turning ahead of me from Freeport into Fruitridge. Since I was behind them I decided to follow it for a while and after a few blocks, the white BMW turned left into 5th FWY S. That was the end of it.

1996 Silverish Honda Civic 4dr v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (February 1, 2004')
When I was coming back from church traveling on 99N FWY at around 1:13pmish. I silver 96ish Honda Civic (with 4-5 people in it) two door drove past me on the left lane. I could see the passenger, who's a bald, Hispanic giving me a reverse V gesture with his fingers. I thought it was funny. Later, I blasted past the Civic at 100MPH or so... I slowed down due to traffic and the Civic overtook me again. But no further incident happened afterward though.

White Mazda MPV with exhaust v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (February 10, 2004')
At around 11:15pmish, I saw this litte late model white Mazda MP3 with a big exhaust zipping through traffic ahead of on Broadway. As we approached Franklin, I didn't turn right as I should but instead kept going and was stopped by the redlight on Broadway at the exit of 99N intersection. The MP3 was also stopped half a car length behind me since his line was drawn that way. As soon as the light turned green, I stepped on the gas and the SC4 flew forward, leaving the MP3 behind. I finally let go of the throttle as I passed the Broadway/Alhambra intersection with my passenger telling me to slow down... The MP3 then caught up and passed me.... I would've killed him easy if I didn't let him walk on me this time.

Dark Green Honda Accord & Dark red Pontiac Trans Am v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (February 14, 2004')
It's Valentine's Day. I entered the 99S Fwy. near downtown Sacramento at around 12:40amish and at this time of the night, there were not too many cars on the 4 lane freeway. As I merged onto the slow lane, a pair of xenon lights got my attention. It slowly caught up to me in the left lane and kept its pace next to me for a few seconds. Upon inspection it was a Silver IS300. We drove side by side for a while and he didn't seem like he wanted to play. So I let off the throttle a bit and cruised comfortably at 60mph or so. Soon after the IS300 sped up and gained about 10 car distance ahead of me. After a couple of minutes, I decided to speed up a bit so I switched to the left lane and increased my speed up to 70mphish or so. I then caught up to the IS300 and proceeded to pass him in the fast lane. Suddenly, there was this car that quickly approached me in the car pool lane (I later found out that it's a greenish/silverish Honda Accord with bodykit, Altezza taillights and a huge rear wing) and it looked like it wanted to play. I sped up and matched the Accord's speed (which by the way, was not too hard) but had to brake for this slow moving dark red Pontiac Trans Am in the fast lane just ahead of me. I flashed my high beams at the Trans Am as I was kissing his rear bumper. I guess the Pontiac driver got the hint and started accelerated away up to 100mph as soon as the traffic ahead cleared up. The Trans Am was very quick, the SC4 could barely keep up with it as it got up to triple speed and caught up the Accord that was way ahead of us in the car pool lane. The Pontiac then swerved around in the fast lane for a bit and then cut into the car pool lane, tailgating the Accord (poor Honda, the Pontiac driver must have thought that the 4 kids in the Accord and I were friends) and matching its speed. I also entered the car pool lane and followed them two because of the slow moving traffic in the fast lane. We three cars then slowed down a bit and were cruising at a comfortable 75mphish mark for a couple of minutes when I saw this dark red 90ish model Ford Thunderbird and a champaign colored 96ish Acura Integra LS pass us at 85mph+ in the fast lane. The pair then got in front of the Accord and seemed to have cut into the car pool lane as well. The Pontiac driver was already impatient at this point, it moved around in the car pool lane, wanting to make the Accord go faster but the Honda didn't take the bait. Here came my chance, I waited as soon as the traffic cleared up in the fast lane, my right turn signal flashed as I cut into the fast lane, gunned the gas and pass the pack of 4. I soon hit traffic ahead of me and had to switch to the slow lane. As I made the lane change, I saw the Thunderbird try to overtake me in the car pool lane. I had already slowed down to about 85mph at that point. Seeing the Thunderbird want to play, I punched the throttle again and this time the SC4 easily managed 110+mph in the slow lane, leaving the Thunderbird behind. It was fun! I eventually switched back to the fast lane and all of a sudden, I saw the Tran Am right behind my tail and the Accord try to catch up somewhere behind me as well. I gunned the SC4 once again but eventually turned on my hazard flashers as the traffic got heavier. The Pontiac driver got the clue and finally switched to the slow lane with the rest of the traffic from that moment on. The Thunderbird and Integra had long disppeared. I was left with the Accord, which continued to follow me and flashed its headlights as my hazard flashers blinked. Eventually, after I switched to the slow lane behind a flatbed truck to prepare exiting the freeway (I've already missed my exit.. LOL), the Accord passed me in the fast lane and got really close to me on the side. I cut back to the left lane and flashed my headlights at its rear bumper as it sped away. I did not give chase this time but simply watch it go. I could see them flashing their hazard lights with some ricey clearn turn signals up ahead, I would respond by flashing my high beams at them. They then responded with some more hazard light flashings. I slowly exited the freeway in the next exit (Elk Grove Blvd.) and called it a night. On my way home at around 3:45amish, a 90s Chevy Silverado also wanted to play as I entered the freeway on 99N. I accelerated to about 100mph and the pick up was easily left behind.

Navy Ford Mustang GT v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (February 21, 2004')
It was another clear weathered day with a bit of clouds floating in the sky. I was barely finished with my Tapioca Milk Tea at a local Tapioca Express by Rivergate Blvd. and was crusing on Rivergate Blvd at around 5:00pmish on my way home with less than a quarter tank of gas. My senses for some adrealine rushing speed were itching again. Previously, a modified black Aristo 400 with 20 chrome rims and red brake calipers parked next to my SC4 had gotten my blood flowing through my veins. As I was looking for potential preys, I spotted this late model navy Ford Mustang pulled into the road from an apartment complex in the opposite lane. At first, I maintained some distance between myself and ths Stang ahead of me, trying to check out what kind of Mods. this guy has on his car. I noticed two huge exhaust tips hanging below his rear bumper, bulged hood, triple white faced gauges on the A pillor, and a GT badge on his side fenders. Judging from his exhaust notes, I could tell that the Stang was at least mildly modified. We were cruising on the Bloeuvard and soon approached our first stop sign. I pulled next to the Mustang and waited for him to go. He slowly took off and didn't take the bite the first time. I matched his speed and kept going as I slowly passed him. After a moment, I decreased my speed just a bit and he caught up to me in the left lane again. We were going about 40-45mph at the time. I then gave my gas pedal some punch and the SC4 surged ahead of the Mustang and almost hit 60mph when a car ahead of me forced me to slow down. By that time, I think the Mustang driver got the hint as he blasted past me quickly going about 70mph + in the left lane. I switched to the left lane and decided to follow the Mustang and see what he does. This guy then started to show off his V8 Ford by rapidly accelerating, cutting through traffic for a couple of times. I managed to stay behind him and in the process, I could hear the mighty exhaust rumble coming from his car. By this time, I had already switched my automatic transmission control to "PWR Mode" as I followed him in the out of the traffic. At one point, there was even another Mustang of similar appearance (it's a 94-95 black Mustang GT, also with bulging hood) ahead of us in the left lane. The speeding navy Mustang soon got to the right lane and cut in front of the black Mustang. I followed as the black Mustang disappeared in my rear view mirror. Pretty soon we were approaching a second stop sign as traffic got heavier ahead of us. It was around 5:04pm. I moved to the left lane and rolled down my passenger window as the Mustang slowed down. I yelled to the driver, who's a slightly overweight, White guy in his mid. 20s, "Wanna Play?" He replied, "Yeah!" I said, "I know you'll kick my ass! But I just wanted to try anyway!" He nodded as we lined up at the stop sign. After a few seconds of waiting, I yelled "Go!" and punched the gas throttle. I did not floor the gas pedal in fear of losing my traction. As the SC4 jumped forward 1/2 past the Mustang, I could see the Mustang started reacting. I first heard a loud roar from the Mustang but still did not see him catch up. The guy must have somehow bogged his engine on start up or spinned his rear tires. I continued accelerating for a couple more seconds but let go of my gas pedal as I see no hope of the Mustang catching up. Suddenly, the Mustang moved toward my rear end quickly and cut into the left lane, passing a slower car ahead of him and got up close to me. I had to accelerate again but I could not shake him off my tail. The road started to curve to the left at this point and about 100 ft. ahead of me, there was a slow moving Maroon Mercedes C-class hatchback negotiating the curve that's coming up ahead of me. I was already going about 70-80MPH at the time, seeing that I may not be able to cut through the curve any faster (and with the Mustang tailing me), I turned into the right lane and slowed down behind the Mercedes. The navy Mustang then pulled next to me and I could hear the driver mumbling "Too much traffic!". I give him a sign and waved at him as he turned into the left turn lane. I switched the transmission control from "PWR Mode" back to "NRM" and continued to cruise on Rivergate Blvd. as I saw the black Mustang finally catching up behind me. When I approached the traffic light, he pulled next to me and had his window down. I could see the driver's a young, skinny white kid who had a huge grim on his face looking at me! That made my day! As I turned into Florin Rd., a black guy in a silver early 80ish two door BMW 320i with hydaulic shocks started to taunt me at the traffic light. I switch back to "PWR Mode" on my transmission but would later find out that such move was not even necessary. The SC4 left the bimmer behind in no time.

Yellow Subaru WRX Wagon v. My Lexus SC400 ----> Draw (March 16, 2004')
On my way back home from Elk Grove at 8:57pmish, a yellow Subaru WRX wagon on Laguna Blvd. behind me pulled into the left lane and tried to pass me. At that time I was driving at about 35mph or so. As he passed me I accelerated to match his speed. We went up to about 70-80MPH or so on Laguna Blvd. My car was not able to overtake him but we pretty much kept up at the same pace.

Dark blue Mitsubishi Lancer v. My Lexus SC400 ----> Draw (April 3, 2004')
On my way to San Francisco from Sacramento, I played tag along with this dark navy Mitsubishi Lancer at around 11:15amish on I-80 West FWY. The guy passed me on the right lane on the freeway in high speed and afterward, I cut through the traffic and accelerated to 120mph to catch up to him. I had to get to the left inner lane from the right outer lane of the freeway, swerving across 2-3 lanes at 120mph to get right behind him on the fast lane. As I got close to his tail up close, he stuck up his left hand and pointed to the right lane as he punched it to move over to the right. I didn't follow him though. There was simply too much traffic. The guy's got nerves. Later that night at around 10:35pmish, as I was driving on Laguna Blvd. toward the freeway, a ricer Civic hatch back with a white guy in it pulled up to my left. The light turned green and he made the first move. I slowly accelerated to catch up and he suddenly punched it. I punched it as well and stayed within half a car of the Civic up to 60MPH. I eventually passed him as he slowed down.

Maroon Toyota Corolla v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (April 30, 2004')
It was around 11:40pmish or so. As I was coming back from Davis on I-80 E freeway toward Sacramento, I was crusing on the fast lane at about 78mph or so. Then I saw this late model maroon Toyota Corolla Type S with a dealer plate catching up from behind. He switched to the right lane and passed me. Itching for more speed, I accelerated and caught up to him at near 100mph and passed him. After I passed him, I slowed down to about 80mph or so. He tried to pass me but there was a car ahead of him. After a while, he tried to pass me again as I was going about 80mph and when I saw him getting closer, I started accelerating away. The Corolla was no match for the SC400, of course, I got up to near 120mph or so and at that time, he was already a few cars behind in my rear view mirror. I slowed down to normal speed again. This guy then followed me from behind, passed me and swerved to my lane for a couple quick times. That's it. I've had it. I started following him closely from behind and flashed my high beams at him. He was getting nervous and started to move in and out of lanes. I could see the driver had a white cap on his head. He's probably some college kid who just bought a new car. I continued to follow him and flashed high beams at him as I continued to tail him on to 99S FWY. He finally got nervous and went on to the fast lane. I had to get off at my exit soon so I let him go.

Red/White Yamaha R-1 v. My Lexus SC400 ----> No contest (May 2, 2004')
The time was 1:35pmish. I was driving on Pocket Rd. heading toward Caffee Latte for a cup of coffee when I spotted a red/white Yamaha R-1 in front of me. The guy was riding about 45mphish and I kept my pace behind him for a few blocks or so. Then eventually, I moved over to the right lane as he stopped at a stop sign in front of me. As I came to a stop, the rider suddenly gunned the throttle. I slammed on my gas pedal and the SC4 sling shot forward as well. Even though the SC4 is a quick car, it could not catch up to the R-1 in time. At one point, I even went over a little pot hole going past 65mph and it made my head almost bumped hard against the ceiling. The rider of the R-1 and I did this tag along for a few times. We were also going as fast as 90mphish on the curvy parts of Pocket Rd. It's too bad that I was not able to pass the bike at all. Thanks to the Eibach lowering springs and my low profile Michelin Pilot Sport tires, the SC4 did manage to keep up with the bike quite well though. Finally, as I drove past Caffee Latte, I followed the R-1 for a few more blocks before making a U turn to head back to my destination.

Saturn Vue v. My Lexus SC400 ----> No contest (May 13, 2004')
As I was coming back from Blockbuster's driving on Sutterville at 10:45pmish, this black girl in a Saturn SUV tried to pass me on the Sutterville freeway overpass and I gunned the Lexus to spread the distance apart from her. As I got up to 80mph or so, the SUV was already many cars behind me. We came to a stop at Franklin Blvd. and after the light turned green, I gunned the Lexus again and left her in the dust.

Dark green Toyota RAV4 v. My Lexus SC400 ----> No contest (May 14, 2004')
8:29pmish. When I was coming back from Tapioca Express and driving on Freeport Blvd approaching red light, there was this dark green early model Toyota Rav4 with two fat ladies and a baby in the back seat approaching fast from behind. The tiny SUV quickly switched to the left lane as it moved right behind me. Holding a drink in my right hand, I briefly glanced at my rear view mirror and noticed that the RAV4 was a four door model. As soon as the light turned green I stepped on the gas and the SC4 easily left the Rav4 behind as I hit about 45-50mph or so. I kept my pace and slowed down a bit to around 40mph or so after passing Sutterville Blvd. Then suddenly I saw this little Rav4 coming fast from behind and passed me on Freeport Blvd. at around 60mph or so. It then cut right in front of me into my lane. That's it. I've had it. I gunned the SC4 and its RPM began climbing and it soon matched the speed of the RV4 right ahead of me. I quickly moved over to the left lane as my front bumper almost clipped the RV4's and passed her at about 80mph. I then cut right back in front of her approaching Sutterville's bridge. I still had the juice in my right hand but I carefully slowed down and negotiated the turn into Sutterville. The RV4 followed me from behind but dared not to pass me again. We finally came to a stop at Sutterville and Franklin Blvd. and the RV4 turned right as I switched to the left turn lane. The fat lady looked over at me but didn't do anything.

Silver Pontaic Grand Prix GTP v. My Lexus SC400 ----> Draw (May 16, 2004')
The time was around 1:52-1:54pmish. I was coming back from Tapioca Express on Freeport Blvd. after Sunday service. As I was driving toward Broadway past Sac City college, I saw this silver late model Pontiac Gran Prix two door (could be the GTP version) driving in front of me with a personalized license plate "4 Curves". It was driven by a white male with sunglasses, possibly a middle aged man. He was driving straight ahead of me on the left lane. I moved over to the right lane and slowly passed him. There was also a silver E39 5 series BMW behind him that stayed behind him and moved to the right lane. As we came to a stop, he accelerated off the line a bit quick after the light turned green, I accelerated as well and the SC4 passed him as I switched back to the left lane to stay in front of him. I then came to a stop and saw him swerving to the right lane and stopped next to me. He stopped half a car length ahead of me waiting for the light to turn green. I said fine, it's on. I turned off my A/C and switched on the PWR button of my tranny. As soon as the light turned green, we both gunned it and this time I almost had to floor the SC4. Surprisingly, this Pontiac could really move! He stayed half a car length ahead of all the time from 0-50mph or so (he was half a car length ahead of me to begin with so it could've been a draw) and finally, as we passed the railroad track a little bit ahead of us, he slowed down and I quickly overtook him. Eventually, I had to make a right turn on Broadway as he continued onward on Freeport Blvd.

Silver Toyota Celica v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (June 6, 2004')
As I was driving on Freeport Blvd. toward Broadway at 10:03pmish. I slowly passed this 95ish silver Toyota Celica two door with two white guys in it. As I passed the Celica in the right lane, the passenger stared at me but it didn't catch up to me. I maintained my speed for a few blocks with the Celica behind me. Finally, at the last block before we hit Broadway, there was a red light and we both stopped. Before the light turned green, the Celina slided forward and put a half a car distance ahead of me and as the light turned green, it quickly creeped forward. I simply gunned the SC4's throttle and after 20MPH, it was no contest. The SC4 easily won as it hit 50mph in no time. By then the Celica was a few cars behind me already.

Blue Honda Civic Hatchback v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (June 8, 2004')
Same location/time (11:25pmish) as above except for this time I was in the outer most left lane. A light blue late 80s/early 90s Civic hatchback with a white guy in it tried me after a red light. The SC4 gunned forward and it was no contest.

Silver BMW 7 series v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (June 14, 2004')
It was around 1:45pmish or so. I had a bad encounter with a black dude in a 2000ish BMW 7 series. He cut me off on Broadway just before I reached Franklin and braked right after he got in front of me. I was forced to brake hard and it caused my tires to squeel. I then tailgated him on Franklin Blvd. and hit my horn on him repeatedly. I finally just ignored him as I turned into 5th Ave. His plate number is: 5FGN148

Silver Ford Mustang GT v. My Lexus SC400 ----> Draw (June 15, 2004')
10:35pmish. This race was truly fascinating. After studying for the Bar for an entire day, I came back from Q Cup and I was just stopping at the intersection between Freeport Blvd. and Fruitridge minding my own business and looking for victims to hunt. All of a sudden, I saw a pair of headlights with bright fog lights approaching slowly from the left lane. I couldn't make of it initially but as soon as the car pulled next to me, I recognized it as a late model (perhaps 2000ish) Mustang GT with exhausts (I could hear the engine rumbling as it stopped next to me. It's silver with a GT badge on the sides but didn't have a rear spoiler. I switched the tranny button to PWR mode as I patiently waited for the light to turn green. As the light turned green, I took off quickly, hoping that he would take the bate but he didn't. I slowly accelerated to 40mph or so when I saw the Mustang starting to gain on me in the left rear view mirror. It's on. I gunned the SC4's throttle and could see the RPM needle swinging past the 5k mark. The SC4 was dead even with the Mustang on the empty Freeport Blvd. all the way until almost about 80mph or so, when the other guy slowed down and I overtook him. I then drove for a few more seconds, resuming my 40mphish crusing speed as I saw him attempt yet another race again. I waited for him to catch up and as he gained on me and almost got next to me, I hit the throttle again and this time, the result was the same. Pretty soon we both slowed down with me slightly ahead of him just before we crossed Sutterville Blvd. We both slowed down because we saw strobe lights on a police car pulling over a pick up in the opposite lane. After we crossed Sutterville Blvd. the Mustang pulled next to me, with its windows down and music blasting, the Hispanic driver with mustaches smiled at me as we drove on next to each other. I also had my windows down playing music by Linda Low. I tried to yell to him by asking if he's car's stock but he couldn't hear me. After a while, the Mustang tabbed on its throttle and gained some speed ahead of me and switched to the right lane ahead of me to avoid hitting a car that was making a left turn. I then followed him for a while until he had to make a right turn on the railroad track on Freeport. I honked at him twice as I continued driving on Freeport Blvd.

White Mitsubishi Montero v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (June 19, 2004')
As I was driving on Florin Rd. toward Greenheaven to look for a cafe shop to study for my Bar Exam at 8:14pm, I came to a stop in front of red light on the intersection of Florin and Gloria?. Since it's summer the sky is still very visible. I then saw this late model white Mitsubishi Montero approaching behind from the right lane. It stopped next to me and its driver looked over at me nonchalantly. The driver was a white male with bald head, he looked a bit like Andre Agassi. Before I knew it, the light had turned green and this Mitsubishi just gunned its throttle and jumped ahead of me. At this time, my reaction took over and I instinctively stumped on the SC4's throttle as well. Since he had half a car length on me and I wasn't fully prepared (my PWR mode wasn't even on), I had to deal with what I had. This Montero was very quick for a SUV. I applied a 3/4 throttle run and watched my rev go past 5k RPM as the SC4 surged forward and stayed even with the Montero up until 40-50mph or so. After that, it was all over for the Montero. The SC4 took the lead authoritatively and by the time I hit just a tad over 90MPH on Florin near Rivergate Blvd., the Montero was 7-8 car length behind me. I could see it from my rear view mirror that the guy took a U turn soon afterward. Later that night, as I got out of a Chinese restaurant's parking lot on Freeport Blvd. at 10:55pmish, a truck from behind (Dodge Dakota or Ford pick up?) was going pretty fast and switched to the right lane. I applied the throttle hard on my SC4 again and this time I hit 60MPH in no time. The truck only got near me in the right lane for a brief moment and was left behind. The driver was an African American male.

Blue Suzuki sport bike? v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I lost (July 15, 2004')
I was waiting at the red light on Laguna Blvd. at around 6:45pmish, I noticed this guy on a blue Japanese sport bike turn onto the same road at the intersection ahead of me. He was riding fairly fast and I gunned the throttle and tried to catch up to him. I gunned the throttle and sped up to about 80mph or so. However, I didn't really have a chance to pass him. Then we finally stopped at another red light. I nodded to the rider of the bike, who was to my left. He gestured to me by tipping his helmet with his right hand for a bit. Pretty soon and light turned green and I gunned the SC4’s throttle immediately. The bike was a bit behind me all the way up past 80mph. Then suddenly I saw the rider's body dipped down as he roared past me. Sigh, no chance against a sport bike at all. We soon arrived at Bruceville Blvd. as I turned right, honked and gestured at the rider, who stopped at another red light.

Gold Subaru WRX STi v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I lost (July 17, 2004')
As I was driving to Q Cup from Starbucks at 10:44pmish, my friend was driving behind me in her new 2004 Subaru WRX STi. I then turned into Freeport Blvd. from Florin Rd. and as soon as I entered Freeport, I switched on the PWR button on my tranny and gunned the SC4 at around 30mph. I could see the rev climbing and this time the engine gave its all (even though I didn't floor it) as the needle swung just past 6k range (touching the redline). Eventually, I hit almost 90mph but the STi just stayed right behind my tail all the way! Ouch. I couldn't even shake her off. We continued to drive along at around 80mph for about a few seconds. I then sped away and got up to 100mph or so but she remained at about 80mph or so. That car was simply too fast for my Lexus.

Black Saturn SC Coupe v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (August 2, 2004')
10:18pmish. For the first time since I've owned the SC400, I actually took it all the way up to 140mph on Interstate 5 FWY for a few seconds. Later that night, for a while there was this black Saturn SC coupe that wanted to play tag along with me but every time when he tried to pass me at 90mph or so, I would either pass him slowly or gun the SC400 all the way up to 120mph and fly by him. He did this for a good 30 mins. or so but gave up after a few runs.

Silver Mercedes Benz S500 v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (August 3, 2004')
This entire race lasted from around 1:30amish until 2:30amish or so. When I driving back to LA from Sacramento on Interstate 5 FWY, I was comfortably crusing at 80mph in my SC400 when I suddenly saw a pair of Xenon lights approaching fast from the right side lane. At first I thought it was a Porsche but when the large silver sedan passed me, I realized that it was a late model Mercedes Benz S Class traveling in excess of 95mph. I started to accelerate and quickly caught up with the Merc. as I passed him at 100mph or so. We would then play tag along as he would pass me at 120mph and I would then catch up to him at the same speed. We would then both accelerate up to 130mph. At such high speed, the Merc. was going almost as fast as my SC400. But for some reason, for a few times the Merc. would always cap out at 130mph as I slowly overtook him, reaching 140mph or so. Perhaps the car did have an electronic limiter that stopped it from going any faster, I am not sure. We did this for almost an hour or so. Passing numerous cars, trucks and van on the way. This one time we were going so fast that (I had switched to right lane by then) I almost hit a Ford full size van from behind. It had swerved to the right lane to pass slower cars in the left lane but it was going no where as fast as either the Merc. or I was traveling (we were doing 120mph or so). I had to brake to slow down and flash the high beams at him. The van was traveling at about 90mph or so. At the same time, the Merc. was also stuck behind the slower cars in the left lane. Pretty soon, after emerging out of traffic, the Merc. again approached from behind in the left lane and flashed its headlights at me. It passed me on the left as I gunned the SC4, moved over to the left lane and passed the van. We did this for a few more times, accelerating from about 90mph to 130mph and were pretty evenly matched. Finally, the Merc. moved ahead of me, and the driver tapped his brake lights for a few times. I then got in front of him and put on my hazard lights for a bit as well. After an hour or so, the Merc. continued to blast on the freeway at near 100mph or so down the road. It was time for my car to get a breather so I finally let him go and resumed my normal driving speed. It was fun! The Merc.'s license plate seems to have been: 4WPD209?

Silver Acura RSX v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I lost (August 16, 2004')
I was driving my family back home at around 7:45pmish as I got off the 10FWY and turned left onto Cameron from the freeway exit. When I was proceeding to drive on the right lane, I noticed this silver RSX with damaged right front end cutting to the left lane as he turned from behind me and started accelerating. Fortunately, I still had my PWR button switched on at that moment. He was passing me revving his engine hard and as he got half a car ahead of me, I step on the gas and the Lexus started gaining momentum for a second or two. Then I finally reacted and floored the SC4. After I pushed the downshift button with my right foot, the SC4 suddenly woke up from the lazy smooth accelerating mode and suddenly produced a loud howl from the engine bay as the RPM quickly climbed past 5k?. In a split second I slowly caught up with the RSX but there was a white Ford Windstar van ahead of him. After I saw the van, I slowed down and let the RSX proceed but to my amazement, it actually turned to the left (crossing the center double yellow lines) and quickly passed the van on the left turn lane. The traffic light ahead of us at Cameron/Sunset then turned from green to yellow. I was glad that the RSX would be stopped in front of the light. And for a moment, it did stop at the light. However, for some reason it then moved over to the left turn lane. Oh well. I guess he didn't want to play anymore.

Gold Lexus SC400 v. My Lexus SC400 ----> I won (August 27, 2004')
When I was driving to work from West Covina to Ontario at 10:05amish, I was this 95-96ish gold SC400 emerging from the freeway entrance ramp in the outer right lane. I was going in the outer left lane going about 75mph or so. Slowly, that SC4 accelerated and got closer to my car. I could see its driver was a Caucasian woman who looked about in her 30-40s. Her SC4 had gold package on it. She was speeding along side of me in the right lane as I accelerated and passed her. We then played tag along going uphill on the freeway as she then sped in front of me. I gave my SC4 some gas and ran it up to 95mph or so as she quickly moved over to the left lane to avoid a semi in front of her. I was following her closely and had to do the same as well. It was a very close call though. I was so close to the semi when I switched lane that even myself was nervous for a bit. I finally moved back to the outer left lane. After a while, she tried to overtake me again in the right lane. But I accelerated and didn't let her have a chance to pass me. Eventually, that SC4 got off an exit as I continued to drive on the freeway.

***** Okay, these are about all the races I remember so far..... I am sure there were many other interesting, unforgettable incidents happened in 1996 and earlier but I just can't remember them from the top of my head now.. with this said... please don't be as stupid as I was (I guess my dad had a reason to go fast.. he knew what he's doing as a 35 year driving veteran with perfect records)... always obey your speed limits and buckle up!!!
